MMA glove durability log and test method

A fair gear log starts on day one with the exact pair and its intended use. This is a blank recording method. No pair has completed an independent wear test here, so there is no durability score or product ranking.

Start with the maker’s information

Write down the model, nominal weight, size, closure and care instructions. Label these entries as manufacturer specifications and keep the original product page. Record how your own pair fits when new and photograph its shell, finger loops and knuckle pad in consistent light.

Count sessions and state the conditions

Record each use, approximately how long it lasted, and whether you used pads, a heavy bag or a coached grip drill. One week of bag rounds places different demands on a pair than one week of light technical classes. Count sessions alongside calendar time.

Check in the same way each time

Inspect stitching on the fingers, thumb and cuff. Check that hook-and-loop surfaces still engage, then feel for an area of padding that has moved or collapsed. Note any shift in fit and the cleaning and drying method used since the last check. Separate what you observed from what you think caused it.

Close the record when use ends

Record the observation that ended the test, such as a strap coming loose. Do not keep hitting partners to reach a target date. If another pair was trained differently, report the difference clearly and avoid turning a single test into a universal lifespan.
